Employees at Dreamland BBQ on Birmingham's Southside enjoyed a steady stream of customers Monday night.
Football fans rushed the checkout counter for ribs in preparation of the BCS Title game. Manager Walter Kirkland says employees started grilling meat around 6 a.m. By the end of the day, Walter expected the restaurant to have served more than 500 slabs of ribs.
Some customers drove as far as an hour away to pick up the hickory-smoked favorites. Kirkland welcomes customers, but says most people order take-out.
