TUSCALOOSA - AL -

An early morning 18-wheeler accident along 20/59 near McFarland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa has the southbound lane blocked.

Alabama State Troopers say the 18-wheeler hit an exit sign around the 72 mile marker just before 7:00 a.m. The poles holding the signs collapsed along the roadway, causing traffic to be stopped.

A crane is on the scene to remove the sign from the interstate. Traffic is being diverted at the McFarland Blvd Exit (Exit 73) as crews work.

The driver was injured in the wreck and was transported to DCH for treatment.
