A former Coast Guard transportation officer has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and taking bribes. Federal prosecutors say that 30-year-old Nathan Allen Dunn of Brookwood, Alabama was stationed at the Surface Forces Logistics Center in Norfolk. He was in charge of coordinating the shipment of large freight between Coast Guard bases. According to an indictment, Dunn conspired to award overpriced or fake Coast Guard freight shipment contracts to 12 companies owned by Huffman Earl Monk in exchange for bribery payments of about $220,000.

Monk is also of Brookwood. He was indicted along with Dunn and is scheduled for a plea agreement hearing Wednesday. Dunn could face up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced April 29 in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
