BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The transformation has begun in The Magic City for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Civil Rights movement.

Banners have gone up around town. One is hanging along the back side of the Boutwell Auditorium, facing I-20.

Birmingham's historic civil rights district was ground zero for the 1963 campaign.

Special exhibitions and events are planned throughout the year to commemorate the golden anniversary.
