Cooper Green Hospital's last day

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

When 2012 ends, so will hospital operations at Cooper Green Mercy Hospital. At midnight Monday, Jefferson County will surrender the hospital license and 210 hospital employees will lose their jobs.

Cooper Green will re-open Tuesday as an urgent care center. Hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. until midnight seven days a week.

Clinics and the pharmacy will continue normal operations, so patients are encouraged to make and keep appointments.

If anyone needs to be hospitalized after Monday, Cooper Green staff will make accommodations at another local hospital.

Pam Huff will sit down with county manager Tony Petelos on Focus@4 Monday to talk about the transition and answer patient questions.
