Verdigris, OK -

Traffic is moving once again after seven vehicles were involved in chain-reaction wreck on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Verdigris, late Friday Night.

Captain Scott Horton with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells KTUL.com, a car, traveling Westbound on the Turnpike, struck the center median and became disabled.

According to Horton, two pick-up trucks, also traveling Westbound, came up on the disabled vehicle; striking it and propelling it into one of the passengers who had gotten out of the vehicle.

Authorities have identified that passenger as Joyce Kapcsos, 25 of Miami, Oklahoma. Kapcsos was transported by  Pafford EMS to Saint John's Medical Center in Tulsa where she later died from injuries sustained from the impact.

About the same time, a semi happened upon the wreck and was unable to slow down in time and rolled onto its side, pinning two other vehicles underneath.

Captain Horton says at least one person, a 6 year-old boy from Lawton, was life-flighted to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa with leg injuries and is currently listed in stable condition.

The condition of the others involved in the wreck was not immediately available. However, Horton said they were receiving medical attention for their injuries.

OHP is continuing to investigate the crash. Captain Horton says it's unclear what charges, if any, could be filed.

This is a developing story. Look for more later on-air on Tulsa's Channel 8 and on-line at KTUL.com.
