64-year-old Huntsville-area man indicted on child pornography charges

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A federal grand jury today indicted a Huntsville-area man on child pornography charges, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and Alabama Department of Public Safety Director Hugh B. McCall.
 
A two-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges Donald R. Harris, 64, of Owens Cross Roads, with receiving child pornography over the Internet between March 2001 and March 2009, and with possessing child pornography in Madison County on March 11, 2009.
 
The maximum penalty for receiving child pornography is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The maximum penalty for possessing child pornography is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
 
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Stuart Burrell is prosecuting.
