Crime Stoppers continues to need your help solving a July 12th, 2012 murder. If you know who killed Karlos Bolden, contact Crime Stoppers immediately. You will remain anonymous.
Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper has this week's homicide report.

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

We need your help to make sure a recent case doesn't turn cold.

Karlos Bolden was shot Sunday, July 8th. He was 29 years old. He died almost two weeks later.
We know at least eight people witnessed his murder, and we need someone to come forward.

It was a Sunday when police were dispatched to the 2300 block of 9th Avenue South in the Southtown projects. A person had been shot. That person was Karlos Bolden.

Police found him sitting on the stairs with blood covering his shirt. Bolden only told police he had been shot, but he gave no clues to those responsible.

Bolden was shot four times in the stomach, back and side. He was transported to UAB Hospital.

Bolden died twelve days later on July 20th.

Witnesses told investigators that Bolden was sitting on a brick wall when two black males ran toward him.

Bolden began running away and fell on the ground. Again, we know at least eight people witnessed the shooting, and we need someone to speak up.

We understand you may not want to talk. But remember, Crime Stoppers will never ask for your name. You remain anonymous, and your tip will help us keep a killer from killing again.

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 254-7777. We'll keep you anonymous, and if there's an arrest from your tip, you get a cash reward.

So make the right call for Karlos Bolen, and make sure his killer is held accountable.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Police Chief A.C. Roper."

In addition to telephone tips, encrypted tips can be submitted online by going to www.birminghamcrimestoppers.org and clicking on the "submit an online tip" link. Also, you can text 7777, along with your tip, to the word CRIMES.

If you provide information to Crime Stoppers, detectives will never ask for your name, and they will never see your phone number. Instead, you will be assigned a private code number. If your tip is the first to lead to an arrest, you then use the code number to claim a cash reward.

Crime Stoppers cannot call its tipsters to testify in court.
