For most of us, decorating for Christmas is an important ritual. For some "less is more". Not for one woman in Pelham. She adds new meaning to decking the halls.

Decorations are strategically placed in every corner, wall, and countertop. She says it's more than just for show. It's about spreading joy.

It doesn't take much time to get drawn into sights and sounds of Dorothy Shields' Christmas wonderland.

Shields has kept this tradition alive for twenty years. She's now 78. The decorations aren't placed haphazardly. There's a method. A place and purpose for everything.

Perhaps the room she's most proud of is the living room. Just like the others, it's filled with unique decorations.

But more importantly, on Christmas day, it will be filled with family, laughter, and joy. It's something she hopes every family will experience this year.

Shields says this will likely be her last year. She can't carry the boxes from the basement anymore. She hopes her daughter or granddaughter will continue the tradition, but she says they're not into it like she is.
