Dr. Sandral Hullett was notified by Jefferson County Thursday that her position as Executive Director of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital was being eliminated.

Sandral Hullett, the Executive Director of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital, was notified Thursday that her position is being eliminated at the hospital beginning December 31.

Jefferson County sent notifications to a total of 210 hospital employees informing them of administrative leaves without pay as they prepare to shut down inpatient care services.

"I have talked personally with Dr. Hullett concerning today's notifications. I and the County would like to thank her for her years of service at the hospital and in this community. As I have said, this is an unfortunate, but necessary process during the transition of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital to an urgent and primary care center." Jefferson County CEO Tony Petelos said in a released statement.

A source familiar with the situation confirmed Hullett's position being eliminated as part of the lay-offs, but said an Urgent Care Director will be hired.

We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as information is made available.
