Jacksonville, AL -
The coach who led Prattville High School football
to two state championships and a national number 2 ranking in 2007 has been
tabbed as the new head football coach at Jacksonville State University. Clark has been the defensive coordinator at
University of South Alabama since 2008.
USA's defense proved to be one of the best in the Sun Belt Conference finishing
second in total defense in 2012.
Clark takes over a Gamecock program that
finished with a 6-5 overall record and was 5-3 in the OVC.
"Our vision and mission are winning
conference championships and advancing to the postseason on a regular basis and
we feel like Bill Clark brings the experience and skills to help us achieve our
goals," said Warren Koegel, JSU Athletic Director. "When you look at the success that Bill has
enjoyed in our state, both on the collegiate and high school levels, we feel
like he is the perfect fit to be our head football coach," Koegel added.
Clark will be formally introduced Wednesday at 4
p.m. on the fifth floor of the Stadium Club at JSU Stadium.
