Tuscaloosa County elementary schools will have an added security presence this week. Tuscaloosa County Sheriff says that parents were worried, so there will be deputies at all elementary schools MondayMore >>
There is heightened security at many local schools this week. Measures are being taken by local law enforcement and school administrators to help parents feel at ease while sending there children to school just days after a gunman killed 28 people, 26 at an elementary school, in Connecticut.More >>
A greater police presence will be in place at all Shelby county schools in the coming week. Shelby county sheriff Chris Curry met with school district officials Friday following the school massacre in Connecticut. Sheriff Curry also requested assistance of local city law enforcement in this effort. Local school administrators will address issues related to monitoring the entrances to schools.
Superintendent Randy Fuller has requested that schools review their safety plan and procedures to ensure all personnel are on heightened awareness. School counselors will be available to assist students, teachers, and parents who may need support.
