Tuscaloosa County elementary schools will have an added security presence this week.  Tuscaloosa County Sheriff says that parents were worried, so there will be deputies at all elementary schools Monday morning.

The Jefferson County School District is also increasing security this week.  There will be deputies posted at Jefferson County schools through until schools close for Christmas break.

Shelby County schools will also have an increased security presence.  Administrators have reminded teachers to keep classroom keys with them at all times and to notify principals if they see anyone without a visitor sticker.

The added security measures come after the mass shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
