Update: Demopolis robbery suspect brought in by family...Armed robbery suspect wanted in Demopolis

Update:    Around 9:40 pm, 12-13-2012, The family of Akeem Benison contacted Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese at his home wanting to turn him in.   Akeem was brought to the Demopolis Police Headquarters where he was arrested on seven (7) counts of Armed Robbery 1st Degree.  All of the Robberies occurred at the same location over a period of time.  Investigators found out during the interview that Akeem would flee back to Greene County after robbing the store.   

"I want to say thanks to the family for their cooperation and also commend my department for their determination in bringing this person to justice. Thanks to all agencies that assisted in the search." said Demoplois Police Chief Tommie J. Reese

Update:  Akeem Benison has been arrested by the Demopolis Police Department.  Benison was taken into custody at 10:00 PM Thursday night.

The Demopolis Police Department needs your help in capturing a suspect wanted for three counts of Armed Robbery in the area.

The suspect, Akeem Benison, avoided capture after his latest alleged robbery of a BP Gas Station off of Highway 80 East on Wednesday. Benison was spotted in the Forkland area following the incident, and police spent six hours searching for him in a heavily wooded-area. Air Support from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office joined in the effort, but the suspect was able to avoid capture.
