So, it's dismissing a rising number of soldiers who don't meet fitness standards. Some 1,600 got the boot in the first ten months of this year.
Obesity now is the leading cause of ineligibility for individuals who want to join the Army. Between 1998 and 2010, the number of active-duty military personnel deemed overweight or obese more than tripled to over 5%.
The trend prompted the military to re-examine its training programs.
