On the heels of celebrating its 30th anniversary of producing automobiles in America, Honda marked another historic milestone Wednesday after seeing off the one millionth export vehicle as it departed a Torrance, California port on its way to South Korea.

Officials from Honda Manufacturing of Alabama along with associates from plants in Ohio, Indiana and California were on hand to witness the event, which comes 25 years after the first U.S.-made Honda automobile was exported overseas.

Export vehicle No. 1,000,000 was a 2013 Honda Accord Sedan built in Ohio.

Honda, the second-largest Japanese automobile manufacturer, estimates that within two years, it will export more vehicles built in its North American auto plants than it imports from Japan.

The Alabama-built Honda Odyssey and Pilot are part of the company's fleet of exports that is shipped to 49 different countries.
