Stand-off ends peacefully in Jacksonville

A Jacksonville man has been arrested in Rainbow City after holding police at bay for three hours.

Brian Mason Carnes, 22, was taken into custody by deputies with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force around 3:00a.m.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrived at 3014 Lakewood Drive in Rainbow City just before midnight, to serve a first degree robbery warrant on Carnes.

Within two minutes, Carnes had barricaded himself and two others inside the residence.  The hostages were safely released shortly after midnight. 

The Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group, along with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Rainbow City Police, Gadsden Police Department's Bomb Squad and Alabama State Troopers were called to the scene to assist.

An officer with the Fugitive Task Force negotiated with Carnes during the three hour incident.  Carnes emerged from the residence and was taken into custody shortly after 3:00 a.m.

Carnes is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center awaiting transfer to Calhoun County.
