Jefferson
County Deputies and West Jefferson Fire Department responding to a vacant house
fire in the 4000 block of Alexander Road discovered a meth. lab at the house.
Upon
arrival, Deputies encountered 43 year old Danny Ray Stevens at the residence.
Stevens was extremely nervous and acting erratically. He was walking in and out
of and standing on the porch. He told responders that there was no fire and
they should not enter the home. Stevens
was found to be in possession of pills containing hydrocodone.
In a
bedroom where the fire was said to have started, deputies and firefighters discovered
a table that had several candles on it and had been dowsed with salsa to
extinguish a fire. Further inspection of the residence revealed an active meth
lab.
Stevens was
charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful
Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He is
currently in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $90,000.
