BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Authorities say a Trussville mortgage company owner has been sentenced to five months in prison for failing to file his federal income taxes over a five-year period.
Officials in the U.S. Attorney's office say 54-year-old Don Walter Williams Jr. failed to file income taxes between 2005 and 2009. Authorities say Williams failed to file taxes on more than $830,000 worth of income.
A judge ordered Williams to pay $196,700 in back taxes, plus penalties and interest, to the Internal Revenue Service. He was also sentenced to five months of home detention.
Officials say Williams pleaded guilty to five counts of failure to file income tax returns in July, and will report to prison Jan. 16.
