Northport officer in critical condition

NORTHPORT - AL -

   A Northport officer is in critical condition at a Birmingham hospital after an early morning accident.

   Troopers say 37 year old Jimmy Jason Guin's Ford Explorer collided with a Nissan Maxima on Highway 43 near Tierce Patton Road around 6:39 am.

   Lt. Tim Sullivan tells ABC 33/40 that Guin was off-duty and in his personal vehicle at the time.

   State Troopers are still trying to determine exactly how the crash happened.

   The driver of the Maxima, Lori Montgomery of Northport was not seriously injured.
