A car is found submerged in a South Tulsa pond Tuesday, but police don't suspect foul play.

Police were called to the woods behind Lowe's and Staples on 71st Street near Highway 169.

Teenagers were riding ATVs along dirt paths in that area and noticed a car in the nearby pond.

Investigators say the vehicle has been there for quite some time. There are no signs it was occupied when it ended up in the water.

Police said it was more than likely left there by criminals after an auto theft. Their theory proved correct after a bit of checking. The vehicle was reported stolen in 1998.

Crews struggled with the recovery operation due to Monday night's rain and soggy ground.

Its unclear at this point if police will search the pond further for bodies.
