Tulsa firefighter Mark Meyer arrived to Tulsa International Airport this morning to more than 100 men and women cheering him on his way.
Meyer has a tumor the size of basketball in his abdomen. He was diagnosed 8 months ago, and has been undergoing treatment for about 6 months. In this time, the hard work has helped slow the growing cancer, but hasn't stopped it in it's tracks.
Meyer, along with about 14 relatives and the family dog are headed to New York Presbyterian Hospital to one of the only surgeons in the country who has removed a tumor of this size. Meyer tells us doctors expect his recovery to take about 2 months.
Other firefighters have been filling on his shifts to make sure he keep his job.
