BIRMINGHAM - AL -
Birmingham fire crews spent the early morning hours battling a commercial fire at "V J's Cafe on the Runway". The restaurant is located on East Lake Boulevard. The fire started around 3:45 a.m. Friday. Firefighters say when they arrived at the restaurant heavy smoke and fire was visible from the building.
Investigators say the restaurant was closed at the time of the fire and no one was hurt. The building is described as a total loss. The fire may have started in the kitchen area. The exact location and cause is still under investigation.
