Your Health 12-29 12 Energy healing

Posted: Updated:

Are you holding onto something you need to let go for your sake?... an old argument, resentment, even stress.

That can eventually lead to a dis-ease in your body.

Self care may be what you need to add to your health care routine..

Linda Mays reports on a complimentary therapy known as energy healing.

Natural Forces healing arts studio in Birmingham is where Terri Heiman practices energy medicine, using several modalities including sound and vibration.

She explains as we raise energy vibration in the body-- disease starts to release.

With extensive training, Terri Heiman preaches daily self care for the body, mind and spirit.

She teaches 12 hand positions for self-care through a type of energy medicine known as Reiki.

Reiki is defined as a universal life force energy.  She says it works on the body's energetic and emotional levels.

Heiman is extensively trained in energy therapy to feel energy blockages in the body.

She says the energy is coming from the universe. It comes through her crown chakra through her hands. She says most people sense it as a heat.  It moves through the energetic system of the body.

Through research I learned that even traditional healthcare providers have realized there's more to healing than just medication.

Heiman was first introduced to energy healing in 1997 in New York where she became a master teacher in energy medicine and worked with some physicians and hospital patients.

Heiman says a part of energy medicine is a spiritual practice. However it doesn't require a religious belief.

It's about taking care of your self in part by releasing old bound up energy or stress.

Heiman asks, " How long have you thought about an idea or something bothered you and you don't release it. That comes into the body and causes illness and sickness in the body. That's called a blockage."

She says, " Once you release energetically that's when the real healing can occur."

Energy therapy has been shown to reach the body's cellular level; however, Heiman doesn't say energy therapy cures, but rather it helps heal or bring balance in the body to fight off what ails you.

To learn more, you can attend an open studio at Natural Forces Studio on December 7th at 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and December 8th at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
