Police investigating fatality at house fire near Warrior (Update)

Police and firefighters are investigating a house fire in Warrior, Ala. on Wednesday. Officials have declined to comment on the incident at the time.

The house is located between Warrior and Alabama Highway 160 on U.S. 31, just inside Blount County.

Update: 2:30 p.m.

ABC 33/40 has confirmed that one person died in a house fire near Warrior in Blount County on Wednesday.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at a single-wide mobile home, approximately one mile from the I-65 Hayden/Corner exit.

It is unknown at this time how the fire started, but we will continue to follow this story and update you as more information is made available.

Update: 5:34 p.m.

Tim Sartain with the Blount County Sheriff's Department says the identity of the person who was killed in Wednesday's house fire has not been released.

Sartain says his department has a good idea of who it is, but until the autopsy is final, they will not release it.

As of Wednesday evening, Sartain says the medical examiner was still on scene, then the body will be taken to the local funeral home.

He says the state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. They are also investigating possible explosions or "booms" that neighbors say they heard during the time of the fire.
