Museum guard formally charged in child porn case

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

A 53-year-old northern Alabama man is being indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Loyd Jeffrey Hitt, of Center Point, was arrested in October. Authorities say he ordered pornographic videos and photos from a foreign country and shipped to himself at the Birmingham Museum of Art, where he worked as a security guard. Officials say the material contained images of underage boys engaged in sexual acts.

officials say Hitt received the pornographic materials between May 2009 and October 2012.

A federal public defender was assigned to represent Hitt.
