A federal grand jury has indicted a Bessemer man on charges that he was selling counterfeit designer handbags, wallets, shoes and other accessories from a tent in the Birmingham suburb of Midfield.

U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance said 46-year-old Darryl Eugene Hooper was charged with two counts of trafficking in counterfeited goods and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. More than $110,000 worth of knock-off merchandise was confiscated from Hooper. The items were being sold as top-name labels.
