BIRMINGHAM - AL -

A famous chef will move an upscale urban pub into the Westin Hotel in downtown Birmingham. Just next store, a trendy coffee shop will open.

The BJCC executive director says the Todd English P.U.B and Octane Coffee are meeting high expectations.

The Westin Hotel is nearly complete for its January opening.

On Monday, the mayor and BJCC leaders toured the entertainment district pointing out where English's restaurant and the coffee shop will sit in the lower corner of the hotel. Both are billed as upscale businesses at affordable prices.

Octane will serve coffee and trendy drinks.

The pub will feature New England favorites like lobster rolls, fish and chips, and craft beers.

Four time James Beard Award winner and restaurant owner Todd English sent a statement saying, "it was an obvious choice for my second Todd English P.U.B. I look forward to helping locals and tourists alike enjoy a unique pub experience, one pint at a time."

The mayor says these are exactly the type of businesses they set out to find.

"It speaks volumes for the City of Birmingham. It speaks volumes for the metropolitan area. But more importantly, it speaks volumes for the BJCC in our efforts to make this a first class, world class facility," said Birmingham Mayor William Bell.

The executive director of the BJCC says people are already taking notice and conventions are booking at the BJCC.

The entertainment district will open in late spring with a new name- Uptown.

Texas De Brazil is going into Uptown and announcements about more bars and restaurants are expected soon.
