Alabamians have 425 million reasons to make the trip to the Georgia border this week.  The Powerball jackpot is the reason why. If you are making the trip for a ticket, be prepared for a slight wait at some places.  The Georgia Lottery agency says it is working to get some of its equipment operational again after some machines have been down.

Georgia Lottery spokeswoman Kimberly Starks confirmed that some machines were not working properly. She said Monday afternoon that lottery officials are aware of the situation, and are working to correct the problems. She wasn't immediately able to say how widespread the outages were or provide other details.

Starks said online lottery sales in the state of Georgia were scheduled to start over the weekend, and officials were looking into reports of issues surrounding that as well.

Wednesday's Powerball jackpot is $425 million, lottery officials said. Drawings are held on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
