Jasper, AL -

Shortly before 8:00 AM Thursday morning, firefighters from the Jasper Fire Department responded to a fire at the Jim ‘N Nick's Restaurant on Highway 78 in Jasper.  The restaurant was closed for Thanksgiving.

According to a representative at the JFD the interior of the restaurant sustained most of damage.  An air conditioning unit was also damaged as a result of the fire.

The fire started in the kitchen area and began to move into the attic before firefighters were able to contain it.  Firefighters say that if it had spread further into the attic, the damage could have been much worse.

The cause has not been determined.  Fire marshal's are investigating.
