UAGameday.com has provided alternate routes to Tuscaloosa to help fans avoid Iron Bowl traffic on gameday. (abc3340.com)
The Iron Bowl is just three days away, and the University of Alabama via uagameday.com has provided alternate routes to Tuscaloosa for fans traveling to and from the game on Saturday.
Fans coming from Birmingham and points east or south of Birmingham should avoid I-459, and take I-20/50 through downtown Birmingham. There is always a back up at the I-459 and I-20/50 interchange in Bessemer.
Also, fans may run into heavy traffic on I-20/50 South one mile prior to exit 79. This is where the Interstate goes from three lanes to two lanes which sometimes causes merging delays. Fans can avoid the traffic by taking the Highway 216 route (exit 100) or the Highway 11 route (exit 89).
