It's a first for EMSA and should mean faster response times in south Tulsa, Bixby and Jenks.

EMSA has a brand new substation near 131st and Memorial..

So officials tell us,  fewer ambulances will be criss-crossing town.

Five ambulances will be deployed from the hub..

And from now on, they won't need to restock at EMSA headquarters in North Tulsa.

The expansion is in response to Bixby's growing population.

"This just allows us better resources in the area," says EMSA PIO Kelli Bruer. "Better ingress and egress with traffic down Memorial Drive and some other areas. So it's just allowing us to respond easily and provide that same quality of care."

The new EMSA hub will serve emergencies south of 71st Street.
