Detectives are looking for new leads as they continue to investigate a recent homicide. 54-year-old Starlanda Brown was found lying inside an apartment. He was dead.

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper understands people may not want to talk, but there is protection if you talk to the right people.

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

This happened Thursday, October 4th. Starlanda Brown lost his life. We need to know who's responsible, so please, tell us what you know.

Police responded to the 500 block of Center Street South on an unresponsive person call. When officers arrived on scene, firefighters were checking Brown for any vital signs. Brown was dead. He was lying on the floor just inside the front door.

The apartment appeared to be ransacked, and police found what appeared to be blood on the floor. A witness had seen Brown and another man at the victim's apartment the night before.

So here's what we need: Who is responsible for Brown's death? I'm sure word has spread about who did it.

We just need you to call Crime Stoppers. Tell us what you've heard. We will keep you anonymous, and Crime Stoppers cannot call you to court.

Someone needs to speak up now before this case turns cold.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."
