BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Onlookers watch as large floats, big bands, and dancers march through downtown Birmingham, paying tribute to those who fought for our country.

"I been coming to this parade since I was a child, my father was a veteran in WWII," says Tim Tinney. The parade recognizes all veterans. Will Brower says "I just think it's really cool and I just want to go up and say hey."

Tinney says, "Just to support the troops, the ones that are past and present, for everything that they do for us and for this great country." Children, and their parents, along with other people even participate to say thank you. Ericka Myrick says, "To support our veterans and what they did for us."

And that's why the crowd recognizes veterans from across the nation, local vets are taken back by the amount of support and love the people have.

Retired Veteran Robert Johnson says, "It's a reminder of what we lost and what we gained, it makes me feel good to see the honor that's given to the older service men and these younger people that are in the ROTC that they're learning what it's like."
