As of
Sunday, the price of a gallon of gas in the Birmingham area was averaging $3.22
per gallon. That's a drop of more than
two cents over the last week. The
national average fell 3.2 cents per
gallon to $3.46 according to gasoline price website BirminghamGasPrices.com.
When
comparing prices, in the Birmingham area, from one year ago, the prices are virtually
the same and there is almost a 33 cent difference from one month ago.
"The
national average has again decreased in the last week, but the decreases are
beginning
to slow down," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
"Wholesale
gasoline prices rose strongly on Friday which could send prices higher in
states with among the lowest prices in the United States.
The
fuel tightness has also continued in NYCfor those in Sandy's wake, fuel
availability remains difficult, and is the reason GasBuddy has implemented an
emergency fuel availability service," DeHaan said.
