Portions of I-20W closed for repaving

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Portions of I-20 from Birmingham to Leeds are closed for repaving. Saturday and Sunday, two westbound lanes will shut down. The I-459 exit ramp will also close from 7 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday.

The westbound lanes should reopen Monday morning.

ALDOT says the estimated 72 thousand cars that travel on the interstate each day have worn out the asphalt.

After paving is complete, stripping will start in November 19 weather permitting.
