CHILTON COUNTY - AL -

For now, Chilton Medical Center will remain closed; however, its license will stay active until December 21st.

The Alabama Department of Public Health and the entity holding the license to operate the hospital, Clanton Hospital L.L.C., reached that consent agreement.

The agreement allows another person or entity to submit an application for licensure to operate the hospital.

A hearing to determine whether the license to operate the Chilton Medical Center should be revoked was canceled. The hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.

For now, patients in Chilton County who need to seek treatment at a hospital must go 30 miles south to Prattville Hospital or 30 miles north to Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.
