Posted: Updated:

Campus police kept the peace on the Ole Miss campus after a protest broke out against President Barack Obama's re-election.  The disturbance started shortly after midnight at the University of Mississippi. Initial reports called it a riot.

Witnesses and the student-run TV news station disagreed, saying it was just a protest. There are reports of students yelling racial epithets, throwing rocks at cars and burning an Obama-Biden 2012 sign.  One person on the scene said he was there the whole time and no rocks were thrown. Police responded and the crowd left.

According to various media reports, no one was hurt and no was arrested.
