The Birmingham Police Department reports that a suspect has
been charged in connection with a robbery investigation.
On Monday, November 5, 2012, officers responded to the PNC
Bank located at 1927 1st Avenue North to investigate a report of a
robbery. Upon arrival, officers observed a citizen and security guard detaining
a subject on the sidewalk just outside the bank. Officers learned that the
subject had just presented a note demanding cash before leaving the bank when the
citizen and security guard pursued the suspect before apprehending him. Officers
were able to recover cash taken from the bank.
The suspect is in the custody of the City Jail.
