BPD working with Junior Achievement

Posted: Updated:

Officers from the Birmingham Police Department will be at Bush Middle School in Ensley today to teach the Junior Achievement program, "Economics for Success."  The focus is on personal finance for the more than 150 students.  The officers will also talk to the students about the benefits of staying in school.

"This is an opportunity for us to provide knowledge and teach life skills that may be absent in their homes, or at a minimum, a chance for us to reiterate the knowledge and skills," says Officer La'Quaylin Parhm, Community Project Coordinator for the BPD.

The officers will arrive before 8 AM, at which time the students will escort their officers to class. The officers' time there at Bush will end at 2PM.
