The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says an inmate kitchen worker escaped the Etowah County Detention Center Friday morning.

A Hueytown Police officer had to be taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons after pulling over a vehicle that turned out to be a rolling meth lab.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the suspects attempted to dump the contents of the lab, some of which spilled onto the officer who made the stop and all over the interior of the car.

Chief Hagler with the Hueytown Police said the officer and the suspects were taken to the hospital to be checked out, but is confident that they will all be fine.

A decontamination procedure was required following the incident, and Hueytown Police was assisted by the Bessemer Fire Department in the process.

It is unknown at this time what charges the suspects may be facing.
