Dr. Judy Bonner tapped to lead The University of Alabama

Posted: Updated:

The Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama system named Dr. Judy Bonner as the new president at The University of Alabama.  She was recommended by Chancellor Dr. Robert Witt.

"I am looking forward to working with the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor and our students, faculty and staff as we continue to build on the progress and momentum that have led our University to such unprecedented success," Bonner said.  "We have so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to and, together with our alumni, fans, friends and supporters, we will remain committed to excellence and quality in everything we do."

Trustees also accepted the resignation of Dr. Guy Bailey.  He took the helm on September 4th, but unexpectedly resigned on Wednesday, citing his wife's serious health issues as the reason.

Dr. Bonner served as interim president from March to September of this year.  She is the first woman to ever lead at the Capstone.
