Halloween events packed throughout the area

Posted: Updated:

Families kept busy this Halloween. Along with the traditional knock on the door, there were plenty of unique events wrapped up in fun.

There was hours of set up for a different kind of event. Katie Hudgens says "We feel like its important to give them an experience they can remember." Birmingham Southern students dressed up in costumes and even took cool whip in the face for the 9th annual Halloween on the Hill. "We invite the kids from all over the community and they come and dress up."  The children played games and even received a little something extra.

Parent Tracy Williams says "Not only were some of the games fun, they were educational. They gave away more than candy, they gave away books."  It was one of many events, that gave  families something to do.

Homewood Police Chief Jim Roberson says  "Why not give them a safe place to come to." Homewood police also gave families a treat, providing popcorn and playing games with children.  Parent Theresa Pams says "They're providing a safe environment for the community and the kids can feel safe and have a good time."

Neighborhoods were packed with children in costumes as well. Of course, there's your typical. " "Trick or Treat" and with every event, it all comes down to the candy!

In Five Points South there was also a zombie apocalypse pub crawl that took place throughout the evening.
