Students encouraged to "mix it up"

The Southern Poverty Law Center wants students to sit with someone different today at lunch as part of the "Mix It Up at Lunch" campaign.  It's part of the SPLC's teaching tolerance project

At least Alabama 90 schools will participate today.  According to the AP, SPLC officials say that by sitting with someone new at lunch students can break down the barriers between various groups, meet new people and build an inclusive and welcoming school.
