Homewood police officer fired for inappropriate text messages

Homewood police officer, Mike Jackson, has been fired after an 18-year-old claimed he pulled her over for no reason and sent her a series of inappropriate text messages.

The incident happened back in August. Authorities say a camera video from the patrol car Jackson was driving shows he pulled over a green Jeep Wrangler on Oxmoor Road next to Trinity Church. The video turns off as the Jeep comes to a stop. The teen told police that Jackson pulled her over for no other reason than just to talk.

Jackson says he's appealing his dismissal.
