The Associated Press reports that Blount County Probate Judge David Standridge and Oneonta banker Chris Latta will face off in a Republican primary runoff to determine who will fill a vacant Alabama House seat in Blount and Jefferson counties.  That's House District 34.

Standridge got just 36% of the vote and Latta- 22%.  There was a total of six candidates in the Republican primary race Tuesday.  They will vie to replace Republican Elwyn Thomas of Oneonta.  According to the AP, he resigned to become executive director of the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission.

The runoff is set for December 11, 2012.  No Democrat is running for the seat.
