Walker, La. (AP) -- A 28-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed in the abdomen and
her baby cut out of her, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's
Office. Sheriff's spokeswoman Lori Steele said the woman survived the
attack Tuesday, but the baby died.
Steele did not immediately provide information on how many months pregnant the woman was or her current condition.
Steele
said deputies responded to an emergency call at about 11:15 a.m. in
Walker. She said a suspect is being treated at a local hospital for
unspecified injuries and is in custody, but has not yet been charged.
An investigation into the alleged attack is continuing.
