Special election Tuesday to fill House seats

Two Statehouse seats are up for grabs. Primary elections will be held Tuesday in House Districts 30 and 34.

Republicans Mack Butler and Rob McHugh will face off for the seat vacated by Representative Blaine Galliher of Rainbow City. The winner will challenge Democrat Beth McGalughn in December.

there are no democrats running for the vacancy left by Representative Elwyn Thomas of Oneonta. But there are six Republicans in the race- Bill Burns, Mark Butler, Joe Hughes, Chris Latta, Jim Murphee and David Standridge.

If there is a runoff, it will take place December 11.

District 30 covers parts of Etowah and St. Clair Counties.

District 34 includes parts of Jefferson and Blount Counties.
