Younger Americans now are worried about retirement

Posted: Updated:

Baby Boomers have more friends with whom to commiserate. Younger Americans in their 30s are now the group most likely to doubt they will be financially secure after retirement. Just three years ago, it was baby boomers nearing retirement age who expressed the greatest concern.

The new survey, by the Pew Research Center, reflects the impact of a weak economic recovery. As a whole, retirement worries rose across all age groups. Close to 40% of adults say they are not too or not at all confident they will have enough for retirement. That is up from just 25% in 2009.
