Armstrong stripped of titles

Cycling's governing body is removing Lance Armstrong's name from the record books. Armstrong, once considered to be the greatest cyclist in Tour de France history, has been formally stripped of his seven titles and banned for life for his alleged role in what is considered by U.S. authorities to be a massive doping program.

In a news conference, Pat McQuaid, president of the International Cycling Federation, said that "Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling, and he deserves to be forgotten in cycling."
